Recent and Upcoming NYC Performances

Since making its NYC debut with Choral Chameleon in the 2009-2010 season, my music continues to be performed in the great American city. At the Church of the Incarnation’s Midnight Mass (2010), Christopher DeVage, baritone, and Matthew Lewis, organ, premiered The Shepherds Sing. The piece was written especially for them, and they did an incredibly beautiful job performing it! I am in the process of writing a song cycle for Christopher in two forms: one with piano accompaniment and the other with orchestral accompaniment, and I anticipate a performance of this work in NYC (and LA) sometime in 2011.

The Detour New Music Ensemble will be performing the NYC premiere of Can’t Sit Still (2009), which I recently revised for this performance. Brian Holman will conduct the 12-piece ensemble on Friday, 21 January @ 8pm at Galapagos Art Space in Brooklyn. Click here for details.

Detour will also premiere a new work on 18 March in a program of new music set to short films found in the Prelinger Archives. Stay tuned for details surrounding this concert.

NYC audiences are always so appreciative and intelligent, and it is such a joy and privilege to bring my music to their ears!

  1. Really glad to see that “Can’t Sit Still” got played out here — it’s a fantastic piece (and Galapagos is an awesome space, too). Wish I would have seen this a couple weeks ago…

  2. Thanks, Scott! I’m writing a piece for the same group for a Mar 18 performance to be performed at Galapagos. I’m flying out to NYC for the performance. Maybe I’ll see you there!
